Client & Project Background Information

One of the 5 largest producers of washing machines worldwide aimed to deliver an additional value-added service to its customers by introducing an intelligent liquid dosage system. This system eliminates the need for users to manually determine the amount of washing liquid needed. Instead, it intelligently calculates the optimal dosage based on the specific washing liquid used and combines it with factors such as water hardness, the weight of the laundry, and the level of dirtiness, ensuring superior cleaning performance and efficiency.

The Challenge

The project presented several complex challenges, each requiring innovative and efficient solutions:

  1. Intelligent Dosage System: Created a scalable system capable of efficiently maintaining and managing all information about detergents, supporting the calculation and automation of ideal liquid detergent dosages based on dynamic parameters.
  2. Standardized Communication: Created a robust API framework to enable seamless communication between the washing machine, a web-based backbone, and external data sources for managing detergent information.
  3. Data Integration: Leveraged automated workflows to efficiently integrate diverse data sources, including suppliers and manufacturers, significantly reducing manual input and errors.
  4. Scalability and Efficiency: Designed a flexible, scalable, and internationalized system architecture to accommodate geographical market variations and the diverse range of washing liquids and detergent types.

Our Contribution

Our involvement began at the conceptual stage of the project, working closely with the client to build the foundational backend application that powers this intelligent dosage system. Key contributions included:

  • Backend CMS: Add, manage and maintain all detergents, custom parameters incl custom reporting and statistics, etc
  • Web Services Development: We designed and implemented web services that serve as the intelligence backbone, enabling standardized communication between the washing machine and the system.
  • Database Management Automation: Automated the integration and management of data from multiple suppliers, manufacturers, and other sources to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Intelligent Data Processing: Built sophisticated algorithms to select and process data from the most relevant sources, enhancing the system’s reliability and performance.
  • Mobile Application Connectivity: Enabled seamless interaction between the web application and the accompanying mobile application for enhanced user convenience.
